Continue reading to see our list of dos and don'ts and shop the pieces that will help follow these all-important tips.
1. Do: Add some colour
As tempting as it is to stick to neutrals for office wear, adding some colour to your outfit will make you stand out and give you a confidence boost.
2. Don't: Wear wrinkled clothes
Nothing says tack like a wrinkled outfit. Showing up to work in a wrinkled outfit shows poor planning and a lack of attention to your appearance.
3. Do: Have a pair of flats with you at all times
For those times you need to take a break from high heels or have errands that cannot be done wearing heels, you would be grateful that you always have a pair of flats with you.
4. Don't: Wear short shorts
If you have to question the length of a skirt or dress then it is better not to wear it at all.
5. Don't: Wear casual items
Yes, you can wear casual items. However, it is important to balance them with formal pieces for that serious and stylish look.
6. Don't: Wear what your boss would not wear
This one is pretty self explanatory. If your boss would not wear it, then do't wear it.
7: Do: Stick to clean cut denim pieces
Stay away from distressed denim, or bright coloured denim. A straight cut and dark coloured pair of jeans are your go to denim picks.
8: Do: Plan your outfit the night before
Doing this saves you a lot of time and helps you stay put together and organized.
9: Do: Have a 'ready to go' work outfit
This is for the time when you don't know what to wear. It is important to have that ready to go item that is safe and acceptable for the work place. It could be a suit or a pencil skirt and a silk blouse.
10: Don't: Wear revealing outfits
If it a sheer item or it requires a strapless bra, then you know it is not work appropriate.
